Mr Bingo / Hate Mail
I remember first coming across Mr Bingo a couple of years ago at the Frieze Arts Fair in London exhibiting his Hair Portraits, his exhibit actually took a decent amount of space and caused a lot of buzz around his work and not long after I saw people copy him, the true mark of success. Late year I had the absolute delight and pleasure of him coming to my university and giving us a lecture. The guy is hilarious. I everyone was laughing at his dry, crude humour, even the tutors. He was showing us some of his work he called Hate Mail and to tooth it’s one of the funniest projects I have ever witnessed.
He called people on twitter to contact him with their address and he would rip them to shreds in the form of a postcard, soon enough he got inundated with requests to the point he had to stop people from sending him messages, in all probability hurling some hate at them in the process. In a nutshell, he’s charming, drenched in British mannerisms and his postcards are ridiculously funny, unique and just damn right awesome. 7
